you can use mossly without an account. in that case your garden stays on your device and is not synced to Mossly Cloud. a few features still send limited data to the services that make them work:
when you create an account, we store:
mossly uses Google Gemini to power its AI features: plant identification, plant checkups, and care notes and guidance. to do this, your plant photos, plant details, the care context you add, and the related prompts are sent to Google Gemini to generate a response.
mossly uses a paid Gemini API tier. under Google's Gemini API terms for paid services, Google states that it does not use these prompts, files, or responses to improve its products. Google may retain prompts and responses for a limited period to detect abuse and enforce its policies. this data is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
cover photos you choose for your plants are stored on your device and, if you're signed in, synced to your account in our database. we use Pexels to suggest plant photos. your search queries are sent to Pexels' API under their Privacy Policy.
mossly does not use precise GPS. your garden's location is approximate and city-level, used only for local weather and the care guidance that depends on it.
if you enable reminders, we store your notification preference and send a daily watering reminder via our server. no personal data beyond your device's push token is used for this purpose.
your data is kept for as long as your account is active. if you delete your account, your plant data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.
